Wisconsin Farm Tech Show Customer and Prospect Engagement

At the 2023 Wisconsin Farm Tech Show, Insight FS had a goal to increase booth traffic with a historically smaller booth space (from 100' x 50' to a 20' x 10' tent space).

Having been away from the show for two years, Insight FS needed to find something that grabbed attention, increased visibility, and brought in both customers and viable sales prospects.

Thus, the Insight FS Hat Forge was developed. The Hat Forge used a local vendor and hat press to create custom-hats in the booth. There were four hat styles and three patch styles that could be mixed and matched based on the visitors preference.

This led to distribution of over 500 hats at the 3-day show, and over 168 leads for salespeople to follow up with.

Insight FS hired Overwear Apparel, a local custom apparel shop, to design the hats and patches. They were also on-site to use the hat press to make the custom hats during the show. Ken Reynolds, the owner of the shop, was excited to see so many people visit the show and ask questions about the business.

Trivia was also a hit with new visitors who could compete against others in the booth. This was a way to "win" a hat without being in our territory. We had a lot of visitors from other states who could still learn about Insight FS and offerings, as well as other FS companies.

We all know that farmers LOVE hats. Insight FS distributed over 500 custom hats during the show and we continued to see those hats on heads at other shows, later in the year, including the Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and Corn and Soy Expo. We hope to duplicate the effort at future shows.

Our marketing team consisted of Katie Oehm, marketing specialist, Angie Greving, marketing communications manager, and summer intern Klaire Trieloff. This team of three created every aspect of the Farm Tech booth.

Leads - Print

We captured 168+ digital leads, but with some cellular issues had to pivot to paper entries during the second day. We even had to cut paper at the show to continue to capture leads.

Our team enjoyed talking with our customers and prospects about all we have to offer at Insight FS. The booth was staffed with members of our agronomy, energy, feed, and marketing teams.
