FS InVISION™ DairySelect™ Takes Two Spots in Annual World Forage Analysis Superbowl Finals

FS InVISION™ DairySelect™ has earned two finalist spots in the 36th Annual World Forage Analysis Superbowl, to be held in Madison, Wisconsin.Insight FS customers, Randy and Judy Acker of Acker Farms in Middleton, Wisconsin, and Kyle Levetzow of Model Dairy Farms in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, will compete Wednesday, October 2, in the standard corn silage category.

Both growers submitted samples using FS InVISION DairySelect hybrid FS 61SX1.

FS 61SX1 has outstanding balance in both agronomics and yield. “We are thrilled to see this hybrid getting the attention it deserves,” said Ben Huber, agronomy marketing manager at Insight FS.

Levetzow has been farming his entire life with his family and has run the operation for the past 17 years. He works closely with Insight FS certified crop specialist, Mark Dobson, and GROWMARK Dairy Account Manager, Don Majeski.

“With Mark’s recommendation, we have planted FS 61SX1 for the past 3 years. It has been consistent with good standability, and excellent quality and tonnage. My cows love it,” Levetzow says.

Typically known for his good haylage, this was the first year that Levetzow submitted a sample for the corn silage category.“We have always had good corn silage. With its milk per ton ratio I am not surprised with the results we had, but for as many entries submitted to this category it was a nice surprise to be named a finalist.” Levetzow continues.

With FS 61S the proof is in the milk. Currently, Model Dairy Farms has 330 cows with a Rolling Herd Average (RHA) of 31,300 pounds of milk which contains 3.9% butter fat and 3.2% protein. The majority of Levetzow’s milk product goes to Rolling Hills Dairy Producers Cooperative for the making of specialty cheeses.

FS 61SX1 is known to be a “show-stopper with its high-yielding genetics, attractive field appearance, and health. Add to that, it is a solid performer under saturated soil conditions and has the ability to yield 250+ bushels/acre.”

“FS 61S has always been a very reliable and consistent product, and dairy herds across the state are showing that it has great feedability,” Majeski says.“On behalf of Insight FS and the GROWMARK Seed Division, we would like to thank both growers for their participation in this terrific event using FS InVISION DairySelect and congratulate them on this honor.”

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 2 during a luncheon for finalists at the World Dairy Expo, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
