JEFFERSON, Wis. (January 16, 2024) – On Sunday, January 14, 2024, multiple Iowa County first responders made their way to a fire at our Cobb facility just outside of Cobb, WI. The facility was fully engulfed when Cobb-Eden Fire Department, Cobb 1st Response and Highland EMS arrived. The fire was contained to one office building and attached warehouse.
Team members from the 54th Civil Support Team responded to Cobb, WI to assist with air monitoring. All air monitoring was either near normal background levels or very low. In coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, it was determined the area outside the incident site (Insight FS) was similar concern to a normal fire with regard to gas monitoring.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the first responders, including the local fire departments, the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, and local community members, for their rapid response to our facility in Cobb.” said Ben Huber, general manager at Insight FS. “It has been amazing to witness the community coming together and showing the teamwork and support from all the volunteers. The proactive planning process, the execution and communication on scene, and the collaborative efforts by all involved have been phenomenal. The outpouring of support from the local community for our employees and first responders has been more valuable than words can express.”
The safety of employees and surrounding communities is the number one priority. The facility cleanup has begun, and Insight FS will continue to work with emergency management services, WI DATCP, and industry personnel during the cleanup. Current customer calls are being routed to the Insight FS office in Darlington.
